 |  On August 5th, 1982, at 8:45 p.m., a call to the Cathedral of Saint Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe, NM, requested a Priest come to administer last rites to a dying man. Father Reynaldo Rivera went to perform his solemn duty. |
 |  A man calling himself Michael Carmello instructed Father Reynaldo Rivera to meet him at this rest stop atop La Bahada hill. From there they would go to the man's dying grandfather. Father Rivera never returned and was reported missing that night. |
 |  Two days after he disappeared, Father Reynaldo Rivera's body was found on the deserted mesa by searchers. He had been shot once in the chest. |
 |  On the same day that Father Rivera's body was found, his car was located at a highway rest area twenty miles East of Grants, NM. No blood was found in the vehicle and what finger prints were found, proved to be unusable. |
