| • | Always assume a downed power line is live (even if there are no sparks) and keep everyone far away - at least 20 feet. Even if you don’t touch the line, you could be electrocuted just by being close. Call 911 and PNM immediately. |
| • | Don’t attempt to rescue someone you suspect may have been electrocuted by a downed power line or you could be hurt. Call 911. |
| • | Avoid low-hanging power lines. |
| • | Never try to free things caught in power lines (kites, tree branches, balloons). Call PNM. |
| • | Do not drive over a downed power line. |
| • | Anyone working near power lines could be at risk of fatal electrocution, shock, fires or falls as a result of you or your equipment inadvertently contacting the line. |
