  • Wind and Wires Don't Mix
Look around. Know where the power lines are.
Always assume a downed power line is live (even if there are no sparks) and keep everyone far away - at least 20 feet.  Even if you don’t touch the line, you could be electrocuted just by being close. Call 911 and PNM immediately.
Don’t attempt to rescue someone you suspect may have been electrocuted by a downed power line or you could be hurt. Call 911.
Avoid low-hanging power lines.
Never try to free things caught in power lines (kites, tree branches, balloons). Call PNM.
Do not drive over a downed power line.
Anyone working near power lines could be at risk of fatal electrocution, shock, fires or falls as a result of you or your equipment inadvertently contacting the line.
Tell your children about the dangers of power lines and other electric equipment
Call PNM at 888-DIAL PNM (888-342-5766) and visit PNM.com/safety
