KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Two Afghan officials say an altercation at the Interior Ministry has led to the deaths of two U.S. advisers.

The officials say another Westerner killed the two American service members on Saturday inside a room only used by foreign advisers.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to disclose details of the shooting.

The Interior Ministry issued a statement saying that two of the ministry's international colleagues were killed, and that an investigation was under way.

NATO said two of its service members were killed in Kabul, but did not provide other details.

The shooting comes on the fifth day of protests across the nation sparked by the burning of Qurans at a U.S. base.
