AMMON, Idaho (AP) - Authorities say five people are dead after a man shot two women, two young children and then himself in a house in eastern Idaho.

The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office says a small fire at the house in Ammon led to the discovery of four bodies and a man with a gunshot wound. The man later died at Eastern Idaho Medical Center.

A neighbor reported the fire around 3 a.m. Friday.

Police tell KIFI-TV that victims were two sisters, ages 19 and 22, and children ages 1 and 3. It was unknown whether the women and children were related. Sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Edwards says all four had gunshot wounds.

Ammon police say they're not releasing the victims' names because their family members in Utah have not been notified.

Officials say the fire started in the basement and damaged only the stairwell.

Ammon is a city of about 12,000 just east of Idaho Falls.
