HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - Two children who were fishing on Saturday caught something unexpected on the banks of a river -- what appears to be a human skull.

Hays County, Texas, officials confirmed Monday that it was found in the Blanco River. The skull was sent to a forensics lab to determine if it is male or female and the age of the person.

Officials said it could take as long as two to three weeks before results are known.

Speculation was made, wondering if it belongs to a girl who was lost at a low water crossing in 2004.
