(CNN) – Iconic newspaper USA Today is celebrating a milestone. The newspaper turns 30 this weekend. To mark the occasion, the newspaper, web site and mobile apps are getting a makeover.

30 years ago, USA Today revolutionized newspapers with crisp, clean stories and snazzy graphics. Now from web to tablet to plain old paper, editor in chief Dave Callaway says USA Today's been retooled for the next 30 years.

"Short stories, great packaging, great graphics and video and bringing them out across the web, tablets and mobile, that's the future," explains Callaway.

Gannett, the parent company of USA Today, launched the newspaper on September 15, 1982.

It says the redesigned newspaper will be distributed starting Friday.
