TIJERAS, N.M. (KRQE) - A prescribed burn in the East Mountains has wrapped up, but residents will still see smoke and fire vehicles in the area, the U.S. Forest Service reports.

The Talking Talons prescribed burn reduced potential wildfire fuels on about 40 acres a mile south of the Zuzax exit on Interstate 40.

The Tijeras Volunteer Fire Department will patrol the burn area overnight.  The Bernalillo County Fire Department and La Madera Volunteer Fire Department also supported Forest Service personnel in the project.
