MOGOLLON, N.M. (AP) - Sen. Jeff Bingaman is slated to tour the damage from the massive wildfire in southwestern New Mexico's Gila National Forest.
His office said the New Mexico Democrat will tour Tuesday the Whitewater Baldy Complex Fire and has canceled a tour of a forest restoration project in Mora County. He also has canceled a planned visit to a Las Vegas, N.M., company that specializes in manufacturing wood products from small diameter trees.
The Whitewater Baldy Complex Fire has grown to more than 190 square miles and has become one of the largest fires in New Mexico history.
The 156,593-acre Los Conchas fire last year was the state's largest when it charred around 244 square miles.
