Chimayo: Rio Vista Run and West Arroy Alamo fires

In overnight news firefighters are still mopping up two wildfires in the bosque near Chimayo.

The Rio Vista Run fire started Sunday in the bosque near Chimayo. Firefighters worked through the night to keep it between two and five acres.

Crew have managed to stop the spread of the Rio Vista Run fire, however it is still actively burning on the interior. Crews will remain on stand by for direct fire suppression where possible and work on mop up and strengthening containment lines. Firefighters hoped to have everyone back home by midnight and it is unknown if the evacuation has been lifted at this time.

While crew were making progress with the Rio Vista run fire Sunday, it jumped the river and created the West Arroyo Alamo fire which has also burned approximately two to five acres.

The spread of the fire has been stopped and crews are in mop up and will continue to monitor and strengthen containment lines where necessary.
