ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (AP) - Work to repair the taxiways at a southern New Mexico airport is expected to begin next month.
The city of Alamogordo recently approved a $155,000 grant agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration for the project at the Alamogordo-White Sands Regional Airport. The city is chipping in $4,500 with the state contributing money as well.
Airport coordinator Randy Hill tells the Alamogordo Daily News that the improvements are badly needed.
Hill says the airport also is working to extend and strengthen the runway, and install another heavy ramp for slurry bombers. He says the city has yet to request funding for those projects.
