ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A series of strong storms moved across northeastern New Mexico Tuesday evening with some locations expected to get 4 inches of rain.
Late Tuesday evening the National Weather Service issued an arroyo and small-stream flood advisory for south-central Colfax County, far northwestern Harding County, eastern Mora County and central San Miguel County.
The warning is in effect until 1:30 a.m.
A flash-flood warning also was in effect for north-central Quay County and southeastern Harding County until 12:45 p.m. Affected areas included Ute Lake State Park, Ute Creek, Arroyo de la Cejita and State Roads 39 and 540.
At 10:30 p.m. NWS reported radar showed several slow-moving storms drifting south and dropping rain at the rate of 1-2 inches an hour. Communities in the immediate path of the storm along the Interstate 25 corridor included Maxwell, Springer and Wagon Mound.
A few locations may receive as much as 4 inches of rain, NWS warned.
Earlier storms moving south and southeast across the region left trails of rain and hail with some hailstones reported to have the diameter of quarters.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the storms.
