...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM MDT THURSDAY... A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM MDT THURSDAY. THIS ADVISORY IS FOR THE LOWER ELEVATIONS OF THE NORTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS AND WET MOUNTAINS...THE SOUTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS...SOUTHWESTERN FREMONT COUNTY...THE WET MOUNTAIN VALLEY...CENTRAL CHAFFEE COUNTY BELOW 9000 FEET AND SAGUACHE COUNTY WEST OF THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE BELOW 10000 FEET. SNOW WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE AREA AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES THROUGH THURSDAY. TOTAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 6 TO 10 INCHES...WITH LOCAL ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO 12 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE BY THURSDAY EVENING. LOCAL AREAS ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN WILL EXPERIENCE SOME BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WHERE GUSTY SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 20 TO 40 MPH ARE EXPECTED.
