ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The rainfall average for this year’s Monsoon season was 60% of what the state normally sees.

The main moisture plume stayed primarily in California and Arizona which contributed to the dryer season.

The western part of the state saw near normal levels of precipitation, but the dry month of August changed that clocking this season in as the fifth driest on record.

Weather watchers are hoping for a quick shift into winter which they anticipate will bring more snow.
