ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A storm packing a mean punch is moved through metro Albuquerque Friday afternoon bringing some rain but not the damaging winds forecasters feared.
The National Weather Service issued a severe-storm warning at 4:16 p.m. for the storm carrying winds up to 60 mph but canceled the warning early about 35 minutes later.
The warning covered eastern Bernalillo County, southwestern Santa Fe County and the southeastern corner of Sandoval County.
Areas in the path of the storm included Albuquerque's South Valley and Sunport and the Four Hills and university areas.
Shortly before 5 p.m. the highest wind gust recorded in the area was 49 mph about five miles south of Albuquerque.
An earlier warning for flash flooding was issued for the area around Los Alamos where a deluge left an inch of hail on the ground.
