ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The recent drastic drops in temperatures have provoked Albuquerque Public Schools to make their yearly winter preparations.

These efforts include shutting down cooling systems along with their water sources.  Crews will also make sure boilers and furnaces are turned on and equipped to handle the cold temperatures.

They will also check gas lines and those electronic controls that prevent any mishaps.

APS says their maintenance will be able to respond quickly to any potential problems with heating.
