Teen dies in crash near White Rock

WHITE ROCK, N.M. (KRQE) - A pickup truck reported to be weaving on State Route 4 plowed head-on into a car Wednesday killing a teenage passenger and sending three adults to a hospital, the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Department reported.

The crash happen near White Rock at around 2:30 p.m., Capt. Adan Mendoza told KRQE News 13. No names are being released yet, he added.

Witnesses said the truck was headed north when it cross into the southbound lane.  When both drivers swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision, they hit nearly head-on, Mendoza said.

The teen was riding in the back seat of a Honda sedan and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Two adults in the front seat and the driver of the pickup were taken to Los Alamos Medical Center.

The extent of their injuries and their current medical conditions are not known.
