ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A massive backup and closure of Interstate 25 has snared commuters trying to leave Albuquerque for points south late Wednesday afternoon.

The closure lasted more than an hour and was lifted about 6:15 p.m.

However a major backup extending miles to the north still has to clear.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department initially reported 6-year-old girl suffered critical injuries and had been transported to a hospital.  Later reports indicate he injuries are less serious than first believed.

Additional details of the crash, which happened about 5 p.m. just north of the Rio Bravo Boulevard exit, are not available.
