ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A broken water main made an especially large mess Thursday morning on Albuquerque’s West Side.
The gushing water spread far and wide.
Freezing in some parts and even flooding the parking lot of an Albuquerque fire station.
Although crews hope to get the leak fixed Thursday, the traffic headaches may last a bit longer.
Just getting to their vehicles would have been a bit of a challenge for firefighters at the fire station near the leak.
The parking lot is flooded in some spots from the water that gushed out of the broken water main at Taylor Ranch and Montano.
David Morris with the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority said the main broke sometime overnight and crews came out in the early morning to work on it.
Morris says that the water is still on, but homeowners may be experiencing low pressure.
It's still not clear at this point what caused the break, but it has caused a disruption of full service to customers and businesses in the area.
So far, the three subdivision areas affected are La Orilla, Montano Plaza and San Idlefonso.
Morris says they expect the line to be fixed by sometime early Thursday afternoon, but the work to repair the road could take a couple of days.
