Writing this about 6:30 Thursday night here in Las Vegas which makes it an hour later in New Mexico. Hard to believe I left with 103 other Lobo fans just this morning, midnight to be exact. It was a hectic bus ride, there was a clock above the driver and I thought we had ticked off dozens of miles only to look up and see three minutes had passed. I only slept for about three hours. The entire bus trip took 12.
We watched a few movies, but for the most part other people slept. I think the woman’s team’s loss Wednesday night took a lot out of the crowd I’m embedded with. I thought they were going to be a lot more roudy that what most people actually were. There were only 3 “Everyone’s a Lobo, woof, woof, woof” chants.
We checked into the Circus Circus after 11:00 a.m. local time, just about an hour to drop off our luggage and hop back on the bus and get to the game. We made it, just a few seconds late.
The game was intense! Probably 6,000 fans sprawled throughout the Thomas and Mack Center. The Lobo’s barely pulled of the victory against the Air Force Falcons. Final Score, 65 to 79.
Darington Hobson really impressed me, I’ve seen a few Lobo games on TV but this was my first game in person. I had a pretty good courtside seat too.
It’ll be interesting to see how they play Friday against San Diego State. It’ll also be interesting to see how many MORE Lobo fans make their way to the desert and the strip.
More twitpics will follow, I’m hoping to run into some fans infront of the Bellagio fountains. But for now, it’s time to sleep.
