Blog: Lobos crisp in practice

SAN JOSE (KRQE) - Just looking at both teams, you'd say the Lobos will beat Montana in a blowout.

The Grizzlies didn't look very good in practice.

Making shots appeared to be a struggle until they did a drill that included a bunch of 10-footers.

The Griz seemed to like that drill.

The Lobos on the other hand looked crisped in relaxed.

They also looked like a physically superior team.

The Grizzlies have that intermural sports look. All of the guys met at the court in front of the dorm and put on a game.

You know what I mean.

Looks can be deceiving.

The Lobos better make sure they are not on the short end Thursday. The Nation is watching.

The Lobos need to show they belong on the national stage.

At No. 3, they are the highest seed in San Jose.

They need to be the last to leave.....to Syracuse.

Lobos coach Steve Alford is on the list of some needing to fill coaching vacancies.

Alford says he has too many things to finish at New Mexico.

It's no secret that he loves the direction of the program, Lobo fans and The Pit.

You can also make an argument that the Mountain West is on the rise. They got four teams in the Tournament.

The Pac 10 only got two teams in.

Names like Alford, Boylen, Kruger, Fisher and Rose are in the Mountain West coaching fraternity.

The teams are young and better than ever.

Sounds like a conference on the rise to me.
