ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - After a steady diet of high school football during the first week, we've learned four big things around the state.

1. Yes, La Cueva deserves their Rivals Top 100 status. The Bears waxed a Volcano Vista team that should be decent with the help of the tremendously talented Ronnie Daniels. Don't be surprised if La Cueva makes a lot of teams look bad.

2. 4A is going to be firefight. Top teams Goddard, Belen, Artesia and Aztec all scored at least 40 points with the Bulldogs putting up an impressive 63. Their four opponents scored a combined 52 points and 49 of those belonged to 3A champion Lovington.

3. District 2-5A may be good enough earn the title "Super District" with an impressive 4-0 start, but District 4-5A could be the strongest in the class. Clovis, Carlsbad and Hobbs all won easily and held their opponents to less than seven points.

4. El Paso isn’t as scary as it used to be. Three New Mexico teams notched wins against their Texas rivals. Only the game between Las Cruces and El Paso El Dorado was close.
