ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Fans headed to the Lobo-Colorado State basketball game may want to plan around construction backups at Avenida Cesar Chavez and Interstate 25, according to the University of New Mexico Athletic Department.
A statement released by UNM says it is "strongly encouraging fans" to seek alternate routes both to and from Wednesday's 6 p.m. game.
For fans traveling on I-25, that includes exiting northbound at Gibson Boulevards SE and southbound to Coal Avenue SE to reach University Boulevard and the Pit.
Avenida Cesar Chavez is open, but UNM warns of delays, detours and fans possibly being directed west toward downtown instead of east to the Pit.
The construction work is scheduled to last until at least March 1 and will result in better access to the Pit and other UNM athletics facilities nearby, according to UNM.
