ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Football is coming to Hope Christian School in 2009.
The Huskies have a practice field, but not a place to play home games yet.
School officials said that the program has attracted the interest of around 90 students.
Darrel Kindig will be at the helm for Hope Christian. Kindig has 15 years of football coaching experience.
"It's about football. It's about giving a boy a chance to carry a ball down the field and feel proud that his school offers this sport, and that he participated in it," Kindig said.
The Huskies have a schedule featuring eight varsity games and
two are listed as home games. The junior varsity squad will play
four games.
However, the teams do not have all of the necessary
equipment.
"Wins and losses, I don't think that's going to be the equation for success," Hope Athletic Director Jim Murphy said. "I think if we're going to be able to stay competitive each night, each game, then I think it will be a success.
