Las Cruces pounds Mayfield

LAS CRUCES (KRQE) - The Trojans dream of a fourth straight state championship is now officially fantasy.

On Saturday at Aggie Memorial Stadium, the No. 1 Las Cruces Bulldawgs scored an impressive 35-7 win over the defending state champion No. 4 Mayfield Trojans.

The Las Cruces Bulldawgs will travel to Albuquerque next Saturday to take on the undefeated No. 2 Eldorado Eagles in the state championship.

The game will be held at Wilson Stadium next week even though the Bulldawgs are the higher seed.

Per New Mexico Activities Association rules, the game will be held at Wilson because the last playoff matchup between the Bulldawgs and Eagles was played in Las Cruces.
