ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The Sandia girls soccer team, logging only a 1 in the loss column, is the KRQE Team of the Week.
The Matadors are 11-1 this season, their only loss coming in overtime to their arch-rival La Cueva. Sandia has scored 45 goals this season, while allowing just 5.
"We were blessed with numbers," Sandia Head Coach Vladi Stanojevic said. "We fielded three teams, Varsity, JV, and a C team, and there's a lot of talent.
"In terms of numbers and the quality of talent, we've been blessed."
Team unity has also been a big part of the Matadors success.
"This year, more than years in the past, all the girls get along," senior Michelle Lanier said.
Sandia gets a chance to avenge its only loss this season when the Matadors take on La Cueva Oct. 8.
