PORTALES, N.M. (KRQE) - Last week the Portales City League Sports announced it was banning coach-led prayer.
Tuesday night, the city council will take up the issue.
The ban prevents coaches of teams in city leagues from leading their teams in prayer.
Critics of the ban think the rights of the athletes are being taken away.
However, the Portales athletic director says those who wish to pray at games on their own are still allowed to do so.
