BELEN, N.M. (KRQE) - The Belen Eagles football team is soaring and taking their town of around 7,000 with them.

Friday night, the Eagles will host the Aztec Tigers Friday night for a Class 4A semifinal game.

The Eagles are undefeated on the season and are the top seed in Class 4A.

The success of the high flying team has generated a tremendous amount excitement and pride in the small city.

The team's colors of maroon and white were splashed all over town in the form of window decorations and signs of Eagle support.

Signs could be found on everything from the tire store to City Hall.

The last time Belen was in the state title game was 1963. They lost that contest.

The Eagles need to beat the Tigers to advance to title game, where they would play either Volcano Vista or Goddard.

The success of the football team comes just as the school completed $2 million worth of stadium improvements.

Friday night the Eagles routed Aztec 58-19.
