ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - After sitting at home during the postseason last year, The Valley Vikings are hoping the strength of 25 seniors can prolong their season in 2010.
Valley earned a 6-4 record last season, but weren't selected to postseason.
The Vikings will have to get to the playoffs this year by navigating a brutal schedule that's loaded with some of the best teams in the state.
"Our schedule is brutal, we open with Del Norte...then we have La Cueva, go to Alamogordo, Manzano, Volcano Vista, Cleveland. Then we start district," Head Coach Vince Collins said. "It's a tough road."
Collins also wants his kids to honor the game of football by resisting the urge to trash talk.
Some believe Viking football boils down to one word.
"Pride, just having pride for where we live, what we do for our community and try the best for our school," Senior Adam Gonzales said.
