INDIANAPOLIS (KRQE) - Hank Baskett is back in the NFL.
Just two days after he was released from the Philadelphia Eagles, the Indianapolis Colts announced they've signed Baskett to the team.
Baskett, a wide receiver and former Lobo, was cut from the Eagles' roster to make room for quarterback Michael Vick.
Citing sources within the NFL, ESPN had reported earlier in the day that the Colts would pick up Baskett. The team had been looking for a wide receiver since Anthony Gonzalez injured his knee Sunday.
Coach Jim Caldwell said Thursday that Gonzales could miss two to eight weeks, reports The Associated Press.
Baskett's re-signing comes as a bright spot in a week of bad news for Lobo alumni. On Monday, star Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher confirmed that he would be out for the rest of the season after dislocating his right wrist during the season opener against the Green Bay Packers. The next day brought news of Baskett's cut from the Eagles.
