CHICAGO (KRQE) - A team spokesperson has confirmed that Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, a University of New Mexico alumnus, is out for the rest of the NFL season after dislocating his right wrist.

Jim Christman confirmed a Chicago Tribune report on Monday. He also said Urlacher underwent surgery Monday morning.

Urlacher had told the newspaper that his "season is over" via text message, according to the report.

Urlacher injured his wrist during the first quarter of the Bears' game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, apparently making a tackle on Packers running back Ryan Grant.

The University of New Mexico alumnus was the ninth pick during the 2000 NFL Draft.
