ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Racino fans may have fewer days to play next year if three of the state's five racetrack casinos get their way.
The Downs at Albuquerque, Ruidoso Downs and Zia Park in Hobbs are asking the state racing commission to trim 28 days off live racing during the 2009-2010 season.
It's a cost cutting measure for the racinos, but it will give horsemen less to time to recoup their expenses because a horse can only run so man times in a year.
Fewer days means less opportunity to run.
No word on when the racing commission will rule on the racinos' request.
