ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Manny Ramirez has proven one thing in his first baseball action since his drug suspension, he can really draw a crowd.
An Isotopes record crowd of 15,321 decided to come out for the Ramirez's first rehab stint in Albuquerque.
The L.A. Dodgers slugger showed signs of rust at the plate going hitless in two at bats while in the leadoff position.
Ramirez struck out against pitcher Manny Parra in his first at bat. He later would ground out.
He would leave the game with four innings of work. Isotopes manager Tim Wallach said it was a good outing for Ramirez who showered and left the park soon as he completed his work.
Most of the people attending the game showered the MLB star with applause and cheers.
There were a few fans who called Manny a cheat and did not approve of the Isotopes cashing in on someone who violated Major League Baseball's drug policy.
Ramirez is expected to play five innings in a Wednesday night game against the Nashville Sounds. His work load is expected to increase to seven innings by Thursday.
