MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee Bucks general manager John Hammond says the team's latest roster moves are a "win-now" propositions. The Bucks are trying to lock down a playoff spot and move up the Eastern Conference ladder. They acquired shooting guard J.J. Redick from the Orlando Magic along with point guard Ishmael Smith and center Gustavo Ayon.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Brewers fans braved the elements outside Miller Park for a chance to return there on Opening Day. The Brewers hold the team's seventh annual "arctic tailgate" today beginning at 9 a.m. It's the first shot at buying individual tickets for the upcoming season, including the opener in 38 days.
CHICAGO (AP) — The best team in the NHL this season now is off to the best start in league history. The Chicago Blackhawks broke a record with their 17th straight game to open the season without a regulation loss. They beat the San Jose Sharks 2-1 last night to improve to 14-0 with three shootout losses. The win breaks a mark set by the 2006-2007 Anaheim Ducks with points in their first 16 games.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota-Duluth came from behind twice. Turned out they needed a third comeback. Minnesota's Kyle Rau scored on a third-period rebound and the Gophers beat Duluth 5-3 yesterday. The Bulldogs dropped to 0-7-1 in their last eight games. Under the agreement, the new stadium will feature a 26-foot-high right field wall, retractable seats on the north sideline and removable dugouts.
