COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 last night. Sergei Bobrovsky, replacing an ineffective Steve Mason, made two spectacular short-handed saves in overtime and stopped both shots he faced in the shootout to lift the Blue Jackets to victory.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Cleveland Indians beat the San Francisco Giants 4-3 yesterday. Nick Swisher hit one of three Cleveland home runs. It was Swisher's second home run of the spring. He's now hitting .500. Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched three scoreless innings. He allowed five hits and struck out two.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels beat the Cincinnati Reds 6-4 yesterday. Albert Pujols hit a pair of groundouts and struck out in his first spring training appearance of the year for the Angels. Jay Bruce hit a pair of solo homers for the Reds, off Tommy Hanson in the second and Scott Downs in the fourth.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Browns have changed Mike Lombardi's title to general manager. Lombardi was named the club's vice president of player personnel in January after he spent the past five years working for as a TV commentator. Yesterday, the Browns elevated him to GM and hired Ray Farmer as the team's assistant GM. Farmer had been Kansas City's director of pro personnel the past seven years

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio State Buckeyes held their first spring practice yesterday. Coach Urban Meyer patrolled the field looking at different position groups. He's particularly interested in filling huge departures on the defensive line and at linebacker.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — The 14th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes beat Number 2 Indiana 67-58 last night. Deshaun Thomas and Aaron Craft scored nine of Ohio State's points in a decisive 11-2 run, leading the Buckeyes to victory. Thomas finished with 18 points and Craft added 15 as Ohio State won its fourth straight.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Zeke Marshall scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Akron wrapped up its second consecutive Mid-American Conference regular-season title last night by defeating Miami (Ohio) 72-58. Nick Harney scored 13 points and Alex Abreu added 12 points and seven assists for the Zips, who bounced back from an 81-67 loss to Buffalo on Saturday that ended their 19-game winning streak.

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Matt Smith scored 16 points as Toledo crushed Northern Illinois 70-46 last night to snap a two-game skid and move into a tie for first in the Mid-American Conference West Division. Smith also blocked a career-high five shots for the Rockets, who used a 13-0 run to lead 18-5, then maintained a double-digit cushion.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — D.J. Cole banked in a driving bucket with 2.5 seconds left to lift Youngstown State to a 62-60 win over Loyola of Chicago in the first round of the Horizon League tournament last night. Blake Allen and Kamren Belin scored 15 apiece for Youngstown State, Cole added 13 and Damian Eargle had 10 points and a Horizon League tournament-record seven blocks.
