ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Lobo basketball fans at Uptown Sports Bar cheered their team on all the way to their 63-56 finish against the University of Nevada, Las Vegas—a win to claim the Mountain West Conference title.

“I think it is not a shocker to UNM fans, but it might be to the rest of the nation,” says Audrey Altweis. “We know the Lobos are great but the rest of the nation kind of undervalues them."

“Nobody can outcoach us and with our talent, you never know which player is going to step up at the right moment. Everybody's stepping up. They're just a fantastic team right now,” says Gordon Graves.

The Lobos have racked up 29 wins this season and fans are hoping the NCAA’s selection committee is paying attention after Saturday's win.

“We might be able to sneak into a two slot. Three, maybe two tops. We're going to have a good draw,” says Brandon MacEachen

Even the youngest fans shared their opinions on Saturday's game.

”Jamal did pretty well, Alex did great, Snell outstanding,” says Devin Chavez.

So what does the victory mean for the Lobos?

“I think this means we got a lot of courage and a lot of heart. People think bad of us, but we're not so bad,” Chavez says.

Not so bad at all... and these fans are hopeful the Lobos will prove that yet again in the upcoming NCAA tournament.
