Albuquerque (KRQE) - At least one Lobo football player called the firing of Mike Locksley a business decision while others expressed shock and hurt. The timing of the firing, the same week of a rivalry game against New Mexico State, had other players questioning the timing. One thing is clear. Mike Locksley recruited players that held him in high regard. While Locksley will be missed by his players, they are embracing interim coach George Barlow. Barlow has his work cut out for him as he prepares for the biggest rivalry game on the schedule and deal with a possible quarterback controversy. B.R. Holbrook came in for an ineffective Tarean Austin in the Lobos loss to Sam Houston State and nearly pulled off the victory after leading the team back from a huge deficit.
