ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Former Lobo Basketball stars Chad Toppert and Tony Danridge will likely be Albuquerque Thunderbirds this season.
This afternoon, during T-Birds open tryouts at Albuquerque High School, T-Birds head coach John Coffino was excited at the possibilities.
"Tony already signed with the D-League," noted Coffino. "He's already set there, so we're trying to make sure he's assigned to us or we can draft him or get him somehow. Nothing's official, but it's very likely we'll have a few former Lobos playing for us this season."
Danridge and Toppert both made appearances at the Lobo Howl last night. Danridge made it to the finals of the dunk contest before losing. Toppert made it to the finals of the 3-point contest before losing as well.
Danridge was the first overall selection in the Harlem Globetrotters draft earlier this year.
Since graduation, Toppert has been working out in Arizona with his agent, while Danridge has been doing the same in El Paso.
