ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Chicago Bears linebacker and former Lobo Brian Urlacher is back at his old stomping grounds in New Mexico to hold his annual football camp.
Around 300 campers are participating in the camp, which runs through Thursday.
The Lobos dedicated their indoor practice facility to Urlacher Wednesday morning, after the pro announced a $500,000 cash gift to the program back in January.
"I'm very excited to be apart of this program. I'm proud to say I'm a Lobo and a New Mexican also," Urlacher said.
As for the football player's NFL career, the big guy is getting ready for another season. With high profile quarterback Jay Cutler running the show, a Super Bowl run could be in the cards for the former Lobo.
"When I got back from the off-season, Jay was there and I've never seen that much buzz around our building," Urlacher said. "On defense, we just need to step up and play better football this year."
Urlacher is the second Lobo athlete to pony up big money for the school. NBA All-Star Danny Granger donated a large amount of money recently to help fund the reconstruction of The Pit.
