Lobos new defensive coordinator leaves

Albuquerque (KRQE) - Ron West said he wanted to return the University of New Mexico defense to it's aggressive past. That was last week when he was formally introduced as the Lobos new defensive coordinator. A lot has changed since then. West is no longer a Lobo after accepting an offer to become co-defensive coordinator at Arizona State over the weekend. First year head coach Bob Davie said he was disappointed with the move but understood the nature of the profession. Davie also said, "Coach West made a decision he felt was best for his family, and we wish him the best of luck in the future." A search for a replacement is underway.
