ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Right now, New Mexico Lobos standout Darington Hobson says the odds of him leaving school for the NBA are the same as a coin flip.
"You know it's still 50/50. I don't know what I'll do, but either way it goes I'll still be successful," he said at Monday news conference.
Hobson, a junior college transfer, had immense success in his first year with the Cherry and Silver.
He became the first Lobo ever to lead the team in scoring, assists and rebounds for an entire season.
Hobson was voted Mountain West Conference Player of the year and earned selections to three All-America teams.
Monday his star continued to rise as he was named to the third-team of the Associated Press All-America team. He was second-team on Fox Sports' list and earned a third-team selection with the Sporting News.
Yahoo Sports NBA writer Marc Spears said Hobson can boost his stock by holding workouts for individual teams.
"At the very least, he should probably put his name in and test the waters," Spears said. "As teams work him out, I wouldn't be surprised if his name crept up and he became maybe a late lottery type."
Hobson said he won't hire an agent if he decides to enter the NBA draft, leaving him a little more wiggle room to withdraw if he changes his mind.
