ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - With no New Mexico teams playing, attendance at the New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque apparently fell well short of officials' hopes of 30,000 fans.
The game, the first bowl game of the 2009 football season, pitted Fresno State against Wyoming.
Only about 25,000 fans showed up at University Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
A sea of Wyoming yellow filled the majority of the east side of the stadium, but Fresno State fans on the west side were few and far between.
Wyoming won the game 35-28 after two overtimes.
