LAS VEGAS, NV (KRQE) - The Lobos drop to 20-4 overall, and 7-2 in MWC play after a 64-55 loss to UNLV (18-6). With the win, the rebels snap a 2-game losing skid thanks to a fantastic performance by freshman Anthony Bennett. Bennett tallied 17 points, and grabbed 12 rebounds in the win in a game where the Lobos never led. New Mexico's big men played well: Alex Kirk put together his 5th double-double of the season with 17 points, and a career high 16 rebounds while Cameron Bairstow chipped in with 13 points, and 6 rebounds. What killed the Lobos chances of getting this game close, was the quite play of Tony Snell and Kendall Williams. The duo combined for just 11 points on 4-19 shooting. Up next for the Lobos is a trip to Fresno to play the Fresno State Bulldogs.
