Albuquerque (KRQE) - The next time the ball goes up it will count for Steve Alford and his University of New Mexico Lobos. The Lobos made the most of their final exhibition game Monday night by beating New Mexico Highlands 92 to 70. Six Lobos scored in double figures in the win. Center Alex Kirk, who missed all of last season recovering from back surgery, scored 16 points, pulled down 8 rebounds and had two blocks in his first live action since March of 2011. Suart Sullivan led Highlands in scoring with 19 points.The Lobos also got 14 points and 7 rebounds out of Cameron Bairstow. Forward Chad Adams came off the bench to score 11 points with four rebounds and a block. Guards Kendall Williams and Tony Snell had 12 and 11 points respectively. Point guard Hugh Greenwood chipped in 10 points and 5 assists for the Lobos who will start the season next Monday against Davidson. The game has an 11:59 pm start time at The Pit and is part of ESPN's 24 hours of basketball.
