Albuquerque (KRQE) - The University of New Mexico Lobos kept their undefeated status with a 75 to 67 victory over Southern Cal Wednesday night. Many thought it would be a defensive struggle. The 18th ranked Lobos and USC Trojans started their basketball war with a huge dose of offense. By the time some of the dust settled on the first half of the shooting gallery the home team Lobos were enjoying a 43 to 34 lead. New Mexico Sophomore point guard Hugh Greenwood knocked down four three point baskets in the first half. He would finish the night with a season high 17 points. Greenwood also tied a career high behind the arc with 5 three point baskets. As a team the Lobos made 11 of 24 three point shots. Lobos Junior guard Kendall Williams scored 13 points and had a season high 9 assists. Lobos Sophomore Center Alex Kirk finished with a double double of 13 points and 13 rebounds.USC had five players score in double figures in a losing effort, led by Alex Wise who had 14 points. The Lobos are off to a perfect 9 win start for the second time in six seasons under head coach Steve Alford.
