ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - The 21st ranked Lobos baseball team avoids being swept in their season opening series against the Big-12's Oklahoma State Cowboys thanks to a 9-1 win Sunday afternoon. New Mexico scored 6 runs in the first 2 innings, and that's all starting pitcher Sam Wolff needed. Wolff pitches 5.2 innings, striking out 5 and surrendering the Pokes lone run in the 4th inning. Catcher Mitchell Garver goes a perfect 4-4 at the plate, driving in 3 and scoring 3 as well. The Lobos are 1-2 on the early season.
