Albuquerque (KRQE) - University of New Mexico freshman Cole Gautsche knows what it is like to have success at the quarterback position. He is one year removed from a perfect senior season at Cleveland High School. Gautsche could realize his first collegiate start Saturday when the Lobos take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock, Texas. Starting quarterback B.R. Holbrook remains doubtful for the game after suffering a rib injury in a Loss to the Texas Longhorns last Saturday. Gautsche played in that game and the Lobos season opening victory against Southern. His ability to run the football is ahead of his passing skills. It is something the Lobos are hoping to improve as the season rolls on. Gautsche says it is a matter of learning the tendencies of his receivers.
