Albuquerque (KRQE) - Lobos freshman quarterback Cole Gautsche is probable for a game at UNLV this saturday. Gautsche took a shot to the side of the neck in a loss to Fresno State last weekend. It forced Gautsche out of the game and left him with a little numbness in his fingers. Gautsche returned to practice Monday, telling KRQE sports that he had been cleared by a doctor and is feeling great. Quinton McCown is listed number one on the depth chart this week but, it appears Gautsche will be healthy enough to start. The position of quarterback has been a mixed bag for the Lobos since 2009. That year Dovovan Porterie started every game at the position. Between 2009 to 2011 the Lobos have had 9 scholarship quarterbacks besides B.R. Holbrook. Eight of those quarterbacks quit before their eligibility expired and one never arrived on campus.
