ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - Although former Lobo LB Carmen Messina wasn't drafted on the final day of the 2012 NFL Draft, he still has reasons to smile. Messina has signed a tentative free-agent deal to play football for the Detroit Lions. Messina says the Lions showed the most interest in his services. While Messina is celebrating, so is former teammate Bubba Forrest. Forrest and the Cincinnatti Bengals have verbally agreed on a deal. Forrest is formally invited to the Bengals rookie camp which is just under two weeks away. UNM isn't the only school in the state that has a player pursuing their dreams of playing in the NFL. NMSU CB Jonte Green was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 6th round.
