TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Preliminary hearings have been set for two of the four Alabama football players arrested after a pair of robberies on campus. Court documents filed Tuesday show that Judge James C. Guin set March 19 hearings in Tuscaloosa District Court for Eddie Williams and Brent Calloway, both 20. Those players and 18-year-old D.J. Pettway have requested youthful offender status.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Teams in the struggling Southeastern Conference are bracing for potential Marginal Madness in March. With only one team ranked in the Top 25, the No. 5 Florida Gators, the SEC could have three or fewer teams in the NCAA tournament for only the second time in 23 years.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves will retire Chipper Jones' number and induct him into the team's hall of fame on June 28. The Braves announced Tuesday they will hold a banquet and ceremony honoring Jones before their game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Jones spent his entire two-decade career with the Braves before retiring after last season.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Junior college defensive lineman Toby Johnson has become the 33rd member of Georgia's signing class. Georgia coach Mark Richt says Johnson, from Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, signed with the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Johnson, from College Park, Ga., attended Banneker High School.
