CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Illinois football coach Tim Beckman has finished building his staff by naming Al Seamonson as outside linebackers coach.

In announcing the appointment Tuesday, Beckman said Seamonson has worked with some excellent coaches and players during his career, which includes stops at Central Florida, Maryland, Bowling Green State, The Citadel, Army and Wisconsin. He was a wide receiver for the Badgers in the early 1980s and was an assistant at Wisconsin from 1982 to '84.

Seamonson most recently was an assistant at Central Florida in 2011.

He replaces defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale who left for a job at Cincinnati. Defensive coordinator Tim Banks will coach the defensive backs.

Beckman has replaced more than half his staff following last season's 2-10 finish.
